Kathy Quan Bio

 

Kathy Quan RN BSN PHN has 30 years of experience as a nurse. She earned her BSN at California State Univ. Los Angeles in 1975.  Her primary focus is home health care where she has had to become somewhat of a "jack of all trades." She has been a field nurse, nursing supervisor, and a QI (quality improvement) specialist for a variety of non-profit and for-profit agencies throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Kathy has been the Guide to Nursing at About.com since Dec. 2004. About.com has recently chosen to combine several health care careers into one site and Nursing will no longer exist after November 2007. The articles Kathy wrote for Nursing.About.com are being transferred to this new site and it's companion blog.

Kathy also writes and maintains two websites for home health care professionals: Housecalls-Online.com and HomeHealth101.com.

Her latest book, The Everything Guide to Caring for Aging Parents will be published in Feb. 2009 as will 150 Tips and Tricks for New Nurses.

Kathy was born in Denver, and considers Colorado "home" although she has been a long time resident of Southern California where she lives with her husband of 29 years, Tim, an engineer. They have 3 adult children and a menagerie of cats and dogs.
